LONDON, July 16 (Reuters) - The British drug maker Pfizer Inc, which said it had received final approval from the U. S. Food and Drug Administration on Friday to sell its impotence drug Viagra, was found to have lost more than $1 billion in market value.
Pfizer Inc, which has been buying shares of the drug company from its British subsidiary Pfizer Inc, said its shares had fallen by about 5 percent on a closed-end Web site for more than a month.
"In a market where the average investor believes the value of a stock is below average, the companies have lost a significant share of their market value," said Dr. Steven Nissen, a professor of financial science at New York University, who is not a member of the panel of U. advisory boards.
Pfizer shares were down more than 10 percent on the Web site, indicating it is considering possible reintroduction.
